Plans approved for £61.8m redevelopment of Lord's

Plans for a £61.8m redevelopment of two stands at Lord's are approved by the Marylebone Cricket Club's members.

The MCC members have given the green light to a £61.8m redevelopment project for two stands at Lord's. This will involve demolishing and rebuilding the Allen Stand, adding an extra tier and constructing a fourth level on the Tavern Stand. The capacity of the ground will also be expanded by 1,100 seats as a result of these improvements.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has announced that construction work to improve the facilities at Lord's Cricket Ground will begin in September and is expected to be finished by 2027. The redevelopment will focus on enhancing catering, hospitality, and accessibility for spectators. This follows a recent £53m project to revamp the Compton and Edrich stands, increasing the ground's capacity to 31,000. However, Middlesex County Cricket Club, a tenant at Lord's, has expressed the possibility of relocating from the ground earlier this year.
