England bowler James Anderson, one of the greatest bowlers of all time, confirms he will retire this summer.

Today, England's legendary bowler James Anderson announced that he will be retiring from Test cricket after the first Test of the summer against the West Indies at Lord’s. This decision comes after an incredible career spanning nearly two decades, during which he has become the highest wicket-taking pace bowler in Test history. Anderson expressed his gratitude and emotions in a heartfelt statement shared on his social media platforms, reflecting on his incredible journey and thanking his fans and supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout his career. His impact on the game of cricket will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that the upcoming Test at Lord’s will be my final one. It’s been an amazing 20 years playing for my country and I’ve loved every moment of it. I’m going to miss wearing the England jersey, but I know it’s time to pass the baton and let others live out their own dreams.

I want to give a big shoutout to my family for their love and support, and to the players and coaches who have made this journey so incredible. Thank you all for being a part of this amazing ride.

I can't wait to take on new challenges and spend even more time on the golf course. I am truly grateful for the support I've received over the years, even though I may not always show it on my face. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me.

Richard Thompson, the Chair of the ECB, expressed his belief that there will never be another bowler quite like Jimmy Anderson. He praised Anderson for his remarkable skill and dedication to the game, especially at the age of 41. Thompson also emphasized the emotional significance of Anderson's final Test match and expressed the importance of giving him a memorable send-off to honor his incredible contributions to English cricket.
